I think 7 episodes might be a bit to much but up to 4 more are probably right to cover the forest trial.

Playing it safe lol

1 episode to gather the other new students up and show them setting up traps for the older students
1 or 2 episodes to fight the black squad
1 or 2 episodes to fight the white squad
1 episode for random chatter and Bai Shan's betrayal

So at least 4 episodes, give or take an episode depending on what the studio plans on doing lol but the Forest trial covers about 23 chapters of the novel from the moment they entered the forest, and the studio animates about 3 to 4 chapters per episode

I thought the betrayal happened sooner because Bai Shan wasnt happy with the division of the fire energy.

Speaking of traps, that one they pulled off in this week's episode was so obvious it wasn't even funny and somehow they still fell for it. The first red flag was the campfire giving away the position of that group which was then followed up by them all disappearing when Xiao Yan's group reached the camp. The main red flag was when the people who were originally around the campfire came back made some noise with the odd attack to get spotted then ran off again to split Xiao Yan's group up.

Yeah I laughed with annoyance like of course they fall for an elementary school trap smh. If they were alone, they'd definitely already been failed.

Bai Shan betrays the group when encountering the black squad before the strongest one, the white squad. He leaves the alliance and ran away after being told by the black squad leader that he should worry about himself and not others

During the conversation between the two elders, there werent supposed to be any students around. In the novel the two elders were responsible for existential threats against the academy and the library, they are hermits in fact. Which I found odd since there were students behind them and they were listening in on them.

The older students were not aware of the change in situation brought on by Xiao Yan reversing the "robbing" of the Flame credits, news of this situation slowly filtered to the older students, some werent even aware of it because the ones that were robbed were either too embarrassed to tell others or they wanted the other older students to suffer the same fate as them. Some were still too arrogant in believing that new students were robbing them

I wouldnt say the studio did a bad job on the trap, it's just that no one would really make a campfire like that to give away their position in a hostile area unless it was for three reasons. Firstly, they weren't thinking clearly and just wanted to get warm. Secondly, because they had enough strength to fend off attacks and lastly because it was done on purpose to lure people into a trap.
Also, the information you shared in the 2nd spoiler of that post is understandable because of what will be shown in future episodes and the mistreatment of certain students.

The hunter become the hunted. I think next episode is the turning point here. Perhaps betrayal and merger will happen soon.

I think it's the video quality/compression of the uploads. I don't think the episode releases themselves have any noticeable changes in rendering quality.

The show became so long winded they procrastinate so much Like today really have to not listen to what his one order is and make it even longer wtffff

This season has been so boring so far.

It's the weakest arc in the entire story, no surprise that it's boring compared to what came before.

Almost as weak as the alchemy competition arc, which they somehow managed to stretch over 24 episodes.

every arc cant be topping each other there will be ups and downs

I think that depends on how you look at it overall. Arcs can have more political intrigue, character interactions, etc., that make up for what it lacks in overall action. As long as this doesn't turn into the rinse and repeat cliches of most other Chinese production I'll keep watching it (MC belittled, gets stronger, beats foe, rinse/repeat). I like BttH because it has set itself apart with more substantial content. The cliches are expected here and there, the story uses them but isn't relying on them.

Who says it has to, this is just the cliche overdone auction & academy/sect trials arc in literally every cultivation story without much substance. Somehow even the animated manhua did this arc better.
